Player compatibility

Hum follows Windows, so your player has options.

Hum works best when a music app or browser shares the current track and playback position through Windows media controls.

What "Windows media controls" means

When Windows shows a song in its media panel, Hum can usually see the same information. That includes the title, artist, artwork, whether the song is playing, and its current position. Hum uses those details to find the right timed lyric and keep it aligned with playback.

Some players report less information than others. If a player hides its seek position, Hum may have to estimate timing from the moment it first sees the track. The lyric timing shortcuts are there for exactly that kind of source.

Browsers count as players too

Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other browsers can publish media sessions for Spotify, YouTube Music, YouTube, Pandora, and similar sites. You do not need a Hum browser extension. If the browser exposes a usable media session, the tab can sit behind another window while Hum stays visible.

Not sure about a player?

Open the player, start a track, and check whether Windows shows its title and playback controls. That is the fastest compatibility test. Hum can be more specific after installation, but the Windows media panel is a good first signal.
